06/Jun/99 - BO2K Beta News
UPDATE (6/6/99)

We're down to one month now. I haven't seen any progress yet in the area of a 'BO2K Website' other than this beta site here. We need to get moving on this NOW. I'd also like to see the US download site for the 3DES plugin up and ready to go as soon as possible. Lets talk to people and make these things happen! Note that the list of things-to-do below hasn't changed and still none of them have been done. The program is almost ready to go. Keep on testing!

Also in the news: I've decided to split up the BO2K package into the following forms. This will keep our network load down (not!), and will give L0pht a deserved bit of recognition for developing BO2K plugins.

Official cDc release (Public):

    BO2K.ZIP -> [BO2K.EXE, BO2KCFG.EXE, BO2KGUI.EXE, BO_PEEP.DLL]
    BO2KSDK.ZIP -> [All the BO2K SDK materials]
Official cDc release (US ONLY):
    BO2KDES.ZIP -> [BO2K.EXE (configured with 3DES by default), BO2KCFG.EXE, BO2KGUI.EXE, BO_PEEP.DLL, BO3DES.DLL]
L0pht release (1-2 weeks later):
    BO2KPRO.ZIP -> [BOSOCK32.DLL, BOTOOL.DLL, BOSCRIPT.DLL]
The L0pht will release those plugins as the "L0pht BO2K Professional Plugin Pack". We may charge a shareware fee for it, but it won't 'time out' or be crippleware. Regardless, all of the modules will be open sourced (with the exception perhaps of bosock32.dll, of which I'm not sure how I'm going to open source it...)

All of the L0pht Pro Plugins, as well as BO_PEEP and the rest of the program will be demonstrated at the BO2K demo, except for perhaps BOSOCK32.dll which is a bit hard to make a show of, but it will be mentioned.

That's the scoop.
