Contents
Back Orifice:
Back Orifice was conceived when Sir Dystic of the cDc decided that Windows just didn't cut the mustard when it came to remote administration. Back Orifice was authored to infuse Windows 95 with remote administration functionality, and also to underscore the difficulties associated with Windows systems with no security practices being thrust onto the Internet. [From the BO2K site. 04-Jul-1999]
Back Orifice 2000:
Back Orifice 2000 is the logical extension of Back Orifice, as authored by DilDog of both L0pht Heavy Industries, Inc. and the cDc. Focusing on security, flexibility and extensibility, BO2K was designed to bring the user a lot closer to the network, giving the administrator more control over the system remotely than many people can muster while sitting at the console. BO2K also encompasses Windows 98 and Windows NT as well. BO2K was written such that plugins can extend the functionality of the server in any way, shape, or form imaginable.
